Course Description

This course is the primary 2020-21 Professional Learning platform for online and blended teaching and learning in Charlottesville City Schools. There will be lots of ‘new’ to learn before kids arrive and we will need to refine our practices and make adjustments as we work our way through the school year. We consider this course a work in progress that will evolve and change in response to our needs. Authenticity, flexibility, and personalized learning pathways have been prioritized in this course so you can access the learning modules you need, when you need them.

All modules are required. 'Must-do' and 'can do' activities vary by module. To help you plan, the estimated time needed to complete each module has be provided. Professional learning points for module completion will be awarded using the Canvas gradebook, so be sure to complete all quizzes and required submissions. The number of points awarded vary by module.

Some time will be allocated during pre-week to complete these modules, but you may begin to work on these now.

We are all figuring this out together. By focusing on shared goals, we will be able to learn from, and with, each other to achieve real equity in Charlottesville City Schools and realize the mission of Every Learner. Every Day. Everyone.

Learn how to create educational equity in online, hybrid, and face to face classrooms.
Learn how to access 'must do' and 'can do' learning modules throughout the year.
Learn how to use the tools and apps on Canvas to engage every learner.

Success criteria

Educators will demonstrate they are ready for 2020-21 by successfully submitting course artifacts.
Educators will be able to apply the knowledge and skills contained in the learning modules to their own practice.
Students will emotionally, behaviorally, and cognitively engage in their learning.

Below you will find links to each of the six (6) modules contained in this course. All modules are required. We recommend you work through these in the order below, but you may take them in any order. We have provided the estimated time it will take you to complete each module if you elect to complete each of the basic course components. Should you choose to explore the (optional) extension materials, it will take you longer to complete. If you are an experienced Canvas user, you will be able to complete that course much more quickly. No matter how you progress through each module, you will be awarded the number of PL points indicated in the table below.
